A Year Ago Today
The night before was the Marhaban + kompang banging till 2am in the morning.
1am : I was kid(bride)napped by my aunty and driven to Sg. Perak Resort. I try to contact dash but he was asleep in the next room at the same resort. Unsuccessful and upset that I was not allowed to meet dash the day before to give him the baju nikah. So I leave an SMS for him, telling that I need to drive his car early next morning to go back to home.
7am : After a few hours of sleep, I met dash (for the first time after a few days), secretly at the parking lot. He gave me the car key and I drove home. I reached home and wake everyone up (all my relatives slept there).
8am : Final briefing and coordinating the task force. Make sure all personnels understand their duty during the kenduri. I have to make sure all final touches were done. Indoor and outdoor.
9am : Preparing and put myself into baju nikah + make up.
10am : I grab the car key and an assistant to hold my wedding dress in the car. I drove myself to Masjid Diraja Ubudiah but the groom was not there yet. Phew! I thought I was late. Put on the high heels and try to walk slowly. Coz I feel like I was running. Waiting for my friends to arrive, calmly (not!).
11am : The groom was finally here. Then all the bla bla bla bla by the Tn. Hj. Dollah, Imam Jurunikah gave his preach. yada yada yada.. then done. Cool! I was like jumping and skipping inside the masjid. It's finally over!
12pm : After a few more photo shots, then me and dash have to rush back to the Resort to get changed. But this time, I was not allowed to drive. I don't know exactly what's wrong, but my aunty said the bride cannot drive. WTF? And dash was driven by someone else. So I have to guide my friend to drive me back to the resort. Yeah, blue form, henshin!
1.30pm : I was late! I supposed to reach home from the resort at 1pm. But a few trips to get me and dash dressed and send back the mak andam back to her shop, make us late. My Dad called about 4-5 times asking for my location and warn me to haste a bit. I reached home and make myself visible to guests and pretend to wait for dash outside the house.
(I want to teach some of the guests a lesson. Most of the aunties just love to peek into the bride's room to watch the bride getting ready-lah, wanna see the bedsheet-lah, wanna see the bride-lah, serve them right when the bride was nowhere to be found inside the room. Hahahahahaha).
1.45pm : Dash arrived and another kompang banging. Bersanding.
2pm : Lunch looks yummy but it was too hot until I cannot swallow the food. Just keep myself hydrated by drinking more water. Blue cake slashing session after that.
3pm : We kidnapped our photographer to Sultan Azlan Shah Gallery for photo shoot. This time we don't really care, both bride and groom were driving, photographer sat behind.

4pm : Back from photo shoot and get changed. T-shirt and jeans. Since we didn't really enjoy the lunch just now, I was starving. Off we went to the town to eat laksa and chendol by the Kangsar river. Yummy !!! Not all bride and groom have a chance to do this on their wedding day, rite?
6pm : My Mom called and was looking for us every corner of the house. She ordered us to come back home at once! To clear all the mess after the kenduri. So we went back and make ourselves useful by collecting all the chairs, folding all the tables and count them. Sweep the floor, clear the rubbish. Phew! Not all bride and groom have a chance to do this on their wedding day either.
Well, it has been a year now. It was a hectic day, but I've tried my best to make my wedding day, a memorable one. Even tho it was not a grand wedding, it's truly unique, one of a kind.
