Lion Fish

Description
The lion-fish belongs to the Scorpion fish family. This brightly coloured fish is usually found in coral reefs, especially in shallow waters hovering in caves or near crevices. Lion-fish have venomous fin spines that can produce painful puncture wounds. Fatalities, however, are rare.

The fish have elongated dorsal fin spines and enlarged pectoral fins, and each species has a particular pattern of zebra like stripes.

A person punctured by one of the sharp spines will immediately feel strong pain. Rapid swelling of the affected body area develops along with the possibility of making movement of limbs very difficult. Lion-fish stings can cause nausea, breathing difficulties, paralysis, convulsions and collapse. Even death may occur in exceptional circumstances. Most people survive in spite of the great pain. The venom in the spines remains active for days, so even discarded spines should be treated with caution. It may take several months for a full recovery and if the sting is left untreated, gangrene may develop.

    First Aid

At first immerse the affected area (most often a hand or foot) into hot water. This is thought to improve the blood flow and disperse the venom. Local anesthetic agents may provide deep relief in most cases and occasionally a nerve-block may be  required. An X-ray of the wound should be performed to detect any presence of broken spines, so any possible infection can be prevented.

Lion-O smiles proudly.

Lemang & Rendang

12Oct: Last minute decision to balik kampung. We have no ideas whether it will jam or not on the PLUS highway heading North. Well, we just gonna gamble. Have to go back, coz my Mom dah pesan byk mende for Raya. 12pm we start journey via Guthrie highway. No jam, not a surprise. After entering Sg Buluh, no jam at all. The journey was smooth with no hiccups. We were aware of the contra flow (extra lane from opposite direction) going North from Rawang till Tg Malim, but luckily we didn't take the extra lane. WHY? Because in that lane, u cannot over take the car in front, have to follow the line until the exit at Tg Malim. And I can see a big lorry with speed limit 70/80 km/h on that lane, followed by a long queue of cars behind.
We reached kuala kangsar around 2:30pm. 3pm, we went to Jusco Ipoh for last minute shopping for baju raya. Then return to kk at 6pm. No jams on highway to and fro Ipoh. Nice. But kk a lil bit jammed up. Long queue from the kk toll till middle of kk town.
That nite, start preparation and house cleaning for raya untill early morning.

13Oct: Visit pusara Opah and relatives as early as 7am. After that, rushing to kk town to chase the ice cube lorry to get a big bag of ice cube. Then get ready with new baju raya and start beraya!!! Preparing for open house and waiting for the guesses. Tapau some lemang, rendang, soto, nasi impit, and kuah kacang for my in-laws. 12pm in the afternoon, we start our journey back to KL. Coz all relatives (in-laws) were gathering in Bangsar. Reached Bangsar around 2:45pm, smooth highway journey, just a lil bit of splashes of rain. Then we beraya in Bangsar pulak.

As my in-laws all stayed for a few days in Bangsar, Tok's house has become a station before we start to convoy to Pak Ngah's and Pak Ndak's open house. Pak Ngah on 2nd day of Raya, and Pak Ndak on 3rd day of Raya. Best jugak raya kat KL nih, dapat duit raya :D

4th Raya? Start working, but my bos ask me to go back after lunch. Everybody can go back home after lunch. Hehehehehe....

Selamat Hari Raya!!!

Raya - Jam - Tart

Undecided (yet).
To go back or NOT to go back.
Traveling is 1 thing. Stuck in a jam during this festival season is more more frustrating. And it's puasa somemore.
Hungry --> Bad mood --> Bad driving habit --> Cursing session --> lessen my puasa point

PLUS and the Malaysian Highway Authority, with co-operation from the Traffic Police and AMP Radio Networks are introducing a Travel Time Advisory to reduce traffic congestion on the NSE.
